Holly

This cross was first created in the 19th century at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, Ilex Golden King is a striking evergreen shrub, cherished for its glossy, dark green leaves edged with vibrant golden-yellow margins. Despite the name, it’s actually a female cultivar, often producing bright red berries in autumn and winter if pollinated. Eventually reaching up to 4–6 metres in height, it makes an ideal hedging or a stunning specimen plant, thriving best in full sun to partial shade, it requires minimal pruning to maintain its elegant form.
